In trying to mark the moment with a balance between realism and abstract to capture the emotion of that moment W. Benjamin Thomas paints. Working in acrylic on canvas, he applies the elements of color, shape, texture and light to capture the essence of the images in a way that communicates his awe of our world with all its tension and beauty. Many of his paintings arise from a fleeting glimpse and emotional response to that initial impression, often creating an image or narrative which hovers somewhere between the real and the abstract. Benjamin Thomas has been showing his work since 2008
Fortunately, each painting seems to teach me a little something to take to the next. My hope is that my work speaks in some way beyond any words I might struggle to craft to explain it.
