David Pohl is an illustrator, multimedia artist and arts educator with roots in Allegheny City, where his German immigrant ancestors settled in the East Allegheny and Troy Hill neighborhoods during the late 19th century. His freelance career began with assignments from In-Pittsburgh Newsweekly and Pittsburgh Magazine. A selection of more recent clients include The New York TimesReader's DigestCity Theatre, Oprah, The Wall Street Journal and Scientific American. In 2011 his work was featured in Picnic: New-Wave and Folklore in Contemporary Illustration and Lurzer's Archive: 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide. David has received recognition from Communication Arts, The Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, Graphis, and Print. In 2016 he created a series of banners for Pittsburgh's Market Square commissioned by The Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. Meet Me in Market Square will remain on view through 2020.
