Jolene McIlwain's writing appears online at New Orleans ReviewPrairie Schooner, The Cincinnati Review, Prime Number Magazine, Atticus Review, River Teeth, Fiction Southeast, Litro UK, The Fourth River, and elsewhere, and has been nominated for three Pushcarts and selected as a finalist for the 2018 Best Small Fictions Anthology. Her fiction has also been twice selected finalist in Glimmer Train's contests, earning an Honorable Mention and a Top 25 designation. She's the recipient of an artist grant from the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council and a merit scholarship in fiction from Tinker Mountain for the summer of 2018. Her work was recently selected as a semi-finalist in both American Short Fiction's Fiction and Short(er) fiction contests and in Nimrod's Katherine Anne Porter Prize. She works as a part-time lecturer at Duquesne and Chatham universities and is an associate flash fiction editor at jmww. She's currently working on a linked collection of short fiction and novel set in the hills of the Appalachian plateau of western Pennsylvania.
