Jolene McIlwain's writing appears online in Prairie Schooner, The Cincinnati Review, Prime Number Magazine, Atticus Review, River Teeth, Fiction Southeast, The Fourth River, and elsewhere, and has been twice selected finalist in Glimmer Train's contests, earning an Honorable Mention and a Top 25 designation. She's the recipient of an artist grant from the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council and her work was recently nominated for a Pushcart Prize and selected as a semi-finalist in both American Short Fiction's Fiction and Short(er) fiction contests and in Nimrod's Katherine Anne Porter Prize. She works as a part-time lecturer at Duquesne and Chatham universities and is an associate flash fiction editor at jmww. She's currently working on a linked collection of short fiction and novel set in the hills of the Appalachian plateau of western Pennsylvania.
