"The South Side Slopes" is a ceramic tile painting depicting the South Side Slopes located in Pittsburgh, PA. A couple years ago I was invited to exhibit artwork at the Lamont Restaurant on Mt. Washington by an organization called Scenic Pittsburgh. Scenic Pittsburgh works to preserve the beauty of the landscape in the region. Since I use ceramic glazes in my ceramic tile paintings each tile has to be fired twice. Once before glazing, and then again after the tile has been glazed. It is always exciting to wait for the vibrancy of the second firing of each tile to be achieved.
